Erev Shavuot at Congregation Neveh Shalom. Morning services here at shul – bring a dairy nosh to share. May 30th    7:30 pm – 12 am at Congregation Neveh Shalom Interfaith Torah Shavuot Exploration – Esteemed scholars and clergy of different religions will give various talks about how the Torah centered principles of kindness, civility and caring; conversation & dialog and mutual responsibility find expression in their faiths and traditions. Rabbi Ariel will be on a panel at 10:00 pm. June 1 @ 10:00 am at Congregation Shir Tikvah Hear the Aseret haDibrot, the ‘Ten Utterances,’ sing the Festival Hallel, and remember our beloved dead with Yizkor. It’s traditionally a dairy holiday – think blintzes, kugel, and yes, ice cream; bring your favorite dairy dish to share (we’ll provide the plates and forks).

It’s that time of the year again! Put on a costume, stuff yourselves with cookies and wine and listen to the epic story of the Jewish people’s triumph over misogynistic, power-hungry anti-Semites. I’ll bet Esther was warned. Nevertheless, she persisted. We have two events this year: our family-friendly Purim Celebration & Dinner requires an RSVP. Our Adult Adloyada does not. Hanukkah Open House

Wednesday, December 28th 4:30 pm – 9:00 pm Candlelighting @ 5:30 Jazz Happy Hour starting at 6:30 pm L’Chaverim will be on hand to provide some festive sounds! MEMBERS: Bring a veggie/dairy nosh to share, along with your favorite beverage. GUESTS: $18/Guest Family or $9/person. Guest Registration Our doors will be open for the whole evening for folks to come and go as they please. We’ll have light latke appetizers for everyone all evening. The Ultimate Dreidel Smackdown makes a return, along with family friendly activities upstairs and down. Child care (and a movie) will be provided downstairs at 6:30 as we transition to a more adult atmosphere upstairs.

Kabbalat Shabbat Potluck

Welcome in Shabbat with a fun family-style vegetarian potluck at Shir Tikvah. Dinner will be downstairs –  it will take the place of Friday night tefillah. November 18th at 6:30 pm Leora and Miles will be sharing their Shabbat observance with the group. Children are WELCOME! (You are responsible for children you bring, including clean-up.) Bring drinks for your family AND If your last name begins with. . . J-P bring dessert. Q-Z bring soup (in a crock pot) or pasta. A-I  bring a salad or veggies. Shir Tikvah will supply the hallah and candles for candle lighting.

Wednesday, November 9 at  7:00 pm Jewish prayers are usually communal, but sometimes we daven(pray) alone. This book is meant to help you explore those times. Each prayer and meditation is presented as an English language poem, opposite the traditional Hebrew prayer on which it is based. The siddur includes “A Guide to Daily Choices” suggesting ways to integrate these poems, prayers and meditation practices into the six days of our daily life.
