Counting The Days Until We’re Together

There are fifty days between Pesakh – the Festival of Freedom – and Shavuot – the Festival of Weeks. The mitzvah is, literally, to count the days.
“On the morrow after the Festival you shall count, seven days for seven weeks, and on the day after the counting you shall celebrate.” (Lev. 23.15-16)

At Shir Tikvah this year we are counting down the days to our congregational celebration of Shavuot, and then we are going to keep counting! All summer long there will be opportunities to celebrate our Jewish tradition, with moments that, when we pause to cherish them, make our lives holy. Most importantly, these are chances for us to be together as a congregational community, to share our lives, and what’s important in them, with each other.

* Erev Shabbat Featuring our Graduating Seniors – Friday evening June 27 at 6.30pm, we’ll come together for a vegetarian potluck erev Shabbat dinner and a chance to bid farewell and best of luck to our congregational family’s graduating seniors. No tefilah that evening. Watch for the chance to RSVP in the Week’s Worth.

* Shabbat In The Park-  Join us at 6:30pm on Friday, July 18 in Overlook Park and  Friday, August 15 at the Laurelhurst Park Annex. Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket or chairs and help us welcome Shabbat in our beautiful outdoors.

*Torah Scribe Visit – Thursday, August 21-Sunday, August 24. Our Torah will be getting a check-up by our visiting scribe, who will be making repairs and restoring it.
