Gaza Statement

The leadership of Congregation Shir Tikvah mourns the loss of life in the recent violence in Gaza. We are saddened by the loss of each human life, and we support the desire of all who wish to come home in safety, to live together in serenity under their vine and under their fig tree.

All life is sacred. No one should live in fear. This is true for every Palestinian and it is true for every Israeli. We will continue to support those who work for peace, organizations in both Israel and Palestine, such as the Israeli-Palestinian grassroots organizations Omdim BeYakhad (“We Stand Together”), Judur-Shorashim-Roots, and Women Wage Peace.

Sadly we recognize the long and difficult history of the conflict, and yet with hope we assert that political will can yet bring healing. We will continue to work and to pray for the day when that healing is at hand, and will lift up the voices of all those who call for it wherever we find them.
