Selikhot Death Cafe

Saturday, September 24
7-9 pm
Members only

Selikhot is a time for Jews to gather to turn our thoughts to the themes of Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur: our acts and their consequences, our fleeting time on the earth, and the meaning of our lives. Selikhot is traditionally observed with evening prayers of repentance and atonement.

At a Death Café, people gather to drink wine or tea, have a nosh, and talk about death. The objective, as the Death Café creators put it, is ‘to increase awareness of death with a view to helping us make the most of our [finite] lives”.

A Death Café is facilitated by a trained moderator – it is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a confidential discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session.

Please note that this is an adult event for people 20 years of age and older.
