Welcome Shabbat in the great outdoors. All are invited to eat, sing and enjoy the beauty of the Portland summer with us. July 10th Laurelhurst Concert Pad – SE Oak and 35th Avenue Band starts at 6 pm – prayers at 6:45pm Service animals welcome – please leave other pets at home Rabbi Ariel will be joined by V’Chaverim, playing a combination of klezmer and jazz. V’Chaverim features Ed Kraus on the clarinet, Steve Cohen on bass, Andrew Ehrlich on violin and Courtney Von Drehle on accordion.

Counting The Days Until We’re Together

There are fifty days between Pesakh – the Festival of Freedom – and Shavuot – the Festival of Weeks. The mitzvah is, literally, to count the days. “On the morrow after the Festival you shall count, seven days for seven weeks, and on the day after the counting you shall celebrate.” (Lev. 23.15-16) At Shir Tikvah this year we are counting down the days to our congregational celebration of Shavuot, and then we are going to keep counting! All summer long there will be opportunities to celebrate our Jewish tradition, with moments that, when we pause to cherish them, make our lives holy. Most importantly, these are chances for us to be together as a congregational community, to share our lives, and what’s important in them, with each other. * Erev Shabbat Featuring our Graduating Seniors – Friday evening June 27 at 6.30pm, we’ll come together for a vegetarian potluck

Bluegrass Shabbat in the Park 2014

  Overlook Park, Friday July 18, 6 pm The only Shabbat service in town featuring bluegrass music! Musical guests Stumbleweed with J.D. Kleinke will open our evening.
